Facts, art and video for writing about Rock and Found.

Short description

Your Grandma has willed you a collection of rocks deep in the woods, but when you arrive, you find that the rocks are strewn across the floor. Armed with your Grandma's journal, a determination to clean the collection, and the tools she left behind, you begin sorting through hundreds of rocks.

About the game

Your Grandma Rose has willed you her collection of rocks

Rock and Found is a cozy first-person game about identifying stones and putting them where they belong. Lift a rock out of the pile, work out what it actually is, and carry it to the correct shelf.

Real mineralogy, gentle deduction

Learn how to identify hundreds of rocks using tools real mineralogists use:

  • Determine the Mohs hardness using your fingernails and steel
  • Determine reactivity by dropping acid on rocks
  • Use a UV lamp to see which rocks light up
  • and more!

Learn from Grandma's journal and notes

As you uncover more stones and clean up more of the collection, discover entries and notes that teach you how to identify more rocks, and learn more about the collection.

What you'll find in the collection

  • Lots of rocks, minerals, and fossils to sort through
  • About an hour of relaxing sorting
  • Easy to understand controls
  • No AI-generated content. Everything was either made by hand or comes from free, openly licensed sources online

Every rock has a home
